General Suggestions For Classroom Rules in High School
Science
Some thoughts by Carl J. Wenning, ISU Physics Department
- All assigned written work must be completed in ink, ball point or typewritten.
- You must use a lead pencil for practice work and taking lab data.
- Use standard large-size paper. Secure manila folder to use as a cover.
Keep these in your notebook so that they are ready to hand in as requested.
- Home assignments will be given on selected days. Class assignments
will be given on other days.
- The first missed exam cannot be made up; other missed exams must be
made up. The lowest single exam score will be dropped. If you miss an exam,
the score that will be dropped will be the first missed exam.
- Homework is worth half the points at maximum when turned in late.
- Come for help or make-up to this room. My office will be in the department
office. Come to the office door and knock before entering.
- Pass from the class room by going to the rear, across to the side of
the room, and forward. Students in the side row of tables will leave first.
- Enter the room, with another group is leaving the room, by going around
the demonstration table near the blackboard and to the seats.
- Note the path you should follow during a fire drill. You may have to
lead the class during a drill.
- Bring your notebook and writing equipment to class each day. Bring
your textbook to class each day also. Some reference books will be available
in the classroom and others in the library.
- Bring your homework to class as assigned. Home work is due, even I
forget to call it in.
- Grades will be based on the kind and amount of: a) daily work, b) recitations,
c) notebooks, d) examinations, and e) extra credit.
- Please do not sharpen pencils, fill fountain pens or dispose of waste
paper during active teaching. Such things can be done before or after class.
- Wait for a word or sign of dismissal by the teacher. The sound of the
bell does not dismiss the class.
- Do not enter the lab section of the classroom unless informed.
