Student Performance Objectives:

• the teacher candidate will accurately characterize cooperative learning.
• the teacher candidate will describe the benefits of cooperative learning.
• the teacher candidate will distinguish competitive and individualistic classroom atmospheres from that achieved through the use of cooperative learning.
• the teacher candidate will give the words corresponding to and explain Johnson & Johnson's PIGS FACE acronym.
• the teacher candidate will, if desired, accurately characterize the 9-day cooperative learning experience portrayed on videotape in the classroom and described in the journal article "Nondirected Research Projects in Physics Course work" by Wenning and Meuhsler, The Physics Teacher, March, 1996, 158-161.
