Student Performance Objectives:
- The teacher candidate will explain the requirements of Illinois School Law code as it relates to English Language Learners
- The teacher candidate will identify the role of all teachers in relation to working with ELL students
- The teacher candidate will accurately describe the Cummins Model of ELL
- The teacher candidate will distingush between BICS and CALP using examples
- The teacher candidate will relate academic language proficiency to academic achievement in "L2"
- The teacher candidate will identify problems cause by language patterns and multiple meanings in English
- The teacher candidate will describe the three stages of the lesson cycle
- The teacher candidate will give and explain at least 5 accommodations for ELL students that constitute "best practice" for all students
