Historical Development of a Scientific Model

Course Objective Assessed: (5a) describe and explain the historical development of a model (e.g., solar system, atom, heat, light, etc.) that shows the evolution of scientific thought in a social context, and explains how empirical approaches were used to determine the relative correctness of those models (paper 1).

General Criteria:

Each essay must satisfy the following general criteria:

• Paper is typed double space, using a12-point Times font or similar
• 3-4 pages in length
• Makes appropriate use of grammar
• Logically presented
• Shows evidence of reflection
• Accurate
• Contains not less than three references
• Turned in on time
• Satisfies stated objective for each essay (see below)

In addition, the various essays must also satisfy the following stated objectives:
