Student Performance Objectives:

• The will characterize what constitutes excellence in science teaching citing the twelve standards presented by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.
• The teacher candidate will describe the personal character traits of an outstanding science teacher.
• The teacher candidate will characterize professional growth as teacher and state related processes.
• The teacher candidate will elaborate on the criteria established by the state of Illinois for renewing the teaching certificate, noting especially:
  • requirements for course work (Continuing Education Units, CEU's) and
  • requirements for continuing education credits (Continuing Professional Development Units, CPDU's).
