Solar Energy Workshop for Illinois Teachers

A workshop is being held for Teachers interested in learning about solar energy and the upcoming American Solar Challenge solar car race that will be passing through much of Illinois this June and end in Chicago. The workshop will cover various aspects of solar energy, including solar cell technology, solar heating and cooling, solar energy for homes, and of course, solar cars. Classroom materials will be provided for the participants.

Solar Car Event - June 2010

The 2010 American Solar Challenge (ASC2010) is a competition to design, build, and drive solar-powered cars in a cross-country time/distance rally event. Teams compete in a 1100 mile drive from Tulsa to Chicago. Illinois State University has been builiding and racing solar cars since 2005. The team is currently building a new car for the race. The race route begins in Tulsa, OK and passes through Neosho, MO, Topeka, KS, Jefferson City, MO, Rolla, MO, Alton, IL, Decatur, IL, Normal, IL, Naperville, IL, and Chicago.
