Potential Energy
Gravitational Potential Energy or P.E. = m g h, where m is the mass of an object, g is the local acceleration due to gravity, and h is the height of the object above the gravitational body
Example: A 5 kg mass held at 10 m above the earth P.E. = (5 kg)(9.8 m/s2)(10 m) = 490 J (remember a Joule is a kg m2/s2)
