There seemingly are an unlimited number of problems associated with computers. This just isn't so. In most cases, there are only a very few (but unfortunately common) problems associated with computers. In this activity you will lean (if necessary) and demonstrate your ability to perform basic trouble shooting.
1. Review the following descriptions of common computer problems. If you don't know how to solve or deal with any of these, then it's back to the books.
2. If you think that you would have any problems with resolving
the above situations, then read pages 327-336 of The Little
Mac Book. This book may be obtained from your course instructor.
Each student will be required to complete a lab practical with regard to basic trouble shooting of computers. Several "troubling" situations will be prepared using the computers in MLT 307-B. The student will be required to solve these problems within a limited time frame. Grading will be based upon whether or not the student is able to solve the problem, or describe what should be done to remedy a particular problem.
