RESEARCH OPPORTUNITY

MANNA LAB

THE HOME OF NANO-OPTICS RESEARCH AT ISU

Our research is at the nexus of nanotechnology and optics! We use light to excite single nanostructures (a few tens of nano-meters in dimensions!); and probe the nanostructure-light interactions by a state-of-the-art optical spectroscopy set-up. The nanostructure-light interaction is probed by measuring scattering, absorption, extinction, and  fluorescence at the single particle level. We also perform Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) electrodynamic simulations to complement the experiments.

Currently, we are looking into the possibility of excitation and control of magnetic dipole transitions in various nanomaterials (such metamaterials, rare earth ions, etc.) For more details, see RESEARCH.
