Assessment

A Problem-Based Learning (PBL) experience requires that students create a “product” or “performance” that is aligned with the original problem statement and which is the basis for assessment. Because PBL involves students at a variety of levels, it is reasonable that self assessment, peer assessment, and teacher assessment takes place during and at the end of the process. Three types of assessments will be used in this project:

  • Teacher assessment of the content and style of the written reports
  • Teacher and peer assessment of students’ oral reports
  • Peer assessment of contributions to team efforts

Support for program number HST-ED-90285.01-A was provided by NASA through a grant from the Space Telescope Science Institute, which is operated by the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy, Incorporated, under NASA contract NAS5-26555.
